Heaven, Hell and Holy Bible – acrylic painting

0-1
Heaven and Hell, 30×24 cm

This is one of my favorite pieces, made for someone very dear to me. And, in a way, inspired by that person.

I stared with two smaller paintings.

First one was the angel representing Heaven. I used sea shells as wings. The angel’s robe is made with structure paste.

Second one, hellfire, representing Hell, of corse.  Sea urchin teeth work out very well as devil’s horns. Fire is made with thick layers of paint applied with pallet knife.

I affixed two small canvases on bigger one.  Hot-glued piece of printed picture of the old Bible, played around with glue to make embossed shapes.

Finally, I laid down some black, burnt sienna, some brownish and metallic paints and he painting was done.

Final thought on the theme :

Bible, John 13:36

Simon Peter said to him, “Lord, where are you going?”

Jesus answered him, “Where I am going you cannot follow me now, but you will follow afterward.”
